Following research work in fibre optics at the ABB Corporate Research Centre (Switzerland) and at the University of Essex (UK), Etienne ROCHAT joined OMNISENS (Switzerland) in 2004, first as a product manager, then as R&D manager (2009), and finally as CTO (2013).

He is in charge of product research & development for the company monitoring solution, focusing on optical interrogators, sensing cables and novel applications.

The corresponding products are now deployed worldwide for pipeline and power cable monitoring. In 2022 Etienne became CTO of EOSS, the Prysmian business unit dedicated to sensing.

Jakub is active in Service Product Management at NKT. In his role, Jakub is responsible for the product portfolio of NKT's Service Business Line covering both the offshore and onshore power cable segments. His primary focus is leveraging NKT's extensive HV cable experience to identify solutions for cable owners' and cable operators' needs as well as leading implementation teams to develop these solutions into products. Prior to transitioning to the Service Business Line, Jakub was a member of NKT's in-house Strategy Department where he supported numerous projects across the company's Business Lines, most notably shaping the Service Business Line's strategy. Before joining NKT, Jakub worked as a Management Consultant in Bain & Company's Brussels office and obtained a Master of Science degree in Energy Engineering from the KU Leuven and Grenoble INP.

Chas is Operations Director at Peritus International, a specialist subsea engineering consultancy. He has experience with a wide range of subsea cable projects covering both offshore wind and oil and gas. He is also experienced in subsea pipeline design, having been involved in the design of some of the world’s deepest pipelines at over 3000m.  He holds a Ph.D in Materials Science and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Fellow of the institute of Marine Engineers.

Daniele Caruso is the Project Director for the BlueFloat-Nadara JV across the Italian project portfolio.

Daniele has nearly 20 years of experience in marine and offshore industries and prior to joining BlueFloat Energy he was responsible for the Italy Country management as well as leading the cables engineering team at in Consultancy space based in London (UK). He served as Country Manager and Head of Cables with responsibility for delivering various scopes in floating wind projects ranging from the development of Cable consultancy services and business development strategy for multiple early development floating wind farms in Italy and worldwide, to Directing the delivery of several floating offshore wind projects in Italy at pre-EIA stage. Previously, Daniele worked for Prysmian Group, an EPCI contractor based in Milan, as Offshore Installation Manager responsible for the Installation of several submarine HV power cables across Europe.

A Chartered Marine Engineer with LOC London, Mike is a qualified Chief Engineer who has been working in the renewable sector at LOC for over thirteen years. His experience at LOC includes MWS and consultancy for high voltage export and array cables, HVDC Interconnector cable installation and repair, wind turbine and foundation installation, investigations of subsea cable damage. He is also active as MWS for cable replacement and repair campaigns on several OWF. He has also conducted equipment failure investigations for P&I and H&M interests on a variety failures such as main and auxiliary engines, steering systems and deck machinery, fire damage and vessel repair and has produced expert reports and acted as expert witness for arbitration. He is a qualified ISM/ISO 9000 lead auditor and has completed an MSc in Engineering and Management based around the ISM Code and safety management. He has advised and worked on numerous Offshore Windfarm cable installations and cable repairs as MWS and as a consultant, and has also conducted due diligence for the marine aspects for OFTO bids for transmission assets.

In his role as Director - Energy Transition, in the Global Specialty Energy division of Sedgwick International, Andrew is responsible for their loss adjusting activities across all forms of renewable energy including offshore wind and submarine power cables. Andrew is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Insurance Practitioner with 30 years’ experience in loss adjusting, underwriting, claims management and risk surveying. A founder and former chairman of the European Wind Turbine Committee, he also chaired the Oil, Petrochemical and Energy Risks Association (OPERA) and is a member of the Offshore Engineering Society. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds an Advanced Diploma in Insurance. Andrew moved to the insurance sector in 1996, and since 2000, has been managing a global portfolio of claims in the energy, mining and power sectors. His wide-ranging experience includes time with a Lloyd’s syndicate and a large reinsurance company where he established a reputation as one of the market’s leading underwriters of offshore wind and submarine cable risks.

Rene started his career in 1981 within the dredging division of HAM Dredging. After having spent several years on dredging projects worldwide, he joined the offshore division of the company. At that time the main offshore activities were the preparation of the rights-of-way, consisting mainly of the pre-sweeping, along the pipeline and cable routes.

In 1992, Rene joined Van Oord, one of the major dredging and marine contractors worldwide. Within the Offshore division Rene became responsible for all cable related activities which initially consisted of subsea rock installation for protection purposes and later evolved into the cable installation and burial services towards the telecom and later on the offshore wind industry. In his role, Rene has been responsible for the development of the cable installation and burial activities and several EPC contracts for offshore wind farms and thereby being instrumental in the present position of Van Oord in the cable installation markets.

In 2020, after almost 40 years in the dredging and offshore (wind) industry, Rene has left Van Oord and started his own consultancy (CableAbility) with the aim to use his extensive experience and knowledge within the submarine cable industries

Brendan Hyland is the Founder and CEO of Ocean Information Services a leader in the development and supply of subsea IoT solutions to the offshore wind and environmental industries. He previously founded and led technology companies in subsea automation and in optoelectronics. He has raised over $200m for technology companies and has filed over 300 patents. Brendan holds a degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering and an MBA

Simon founded Xlinks in 2019, spearheading the concept and development of the Morocco-UK Power Project, before moving into the role of Group CEO, Xlinks Limited where he is responsible for growing the Xlinks portfolio of projects.

Previously, Simon built Ground Control Ltd, a highly respected, multi award-winning environmental services business looking after over 50,000 sites in the UK.

He also founded Skyports Ltd, a leader in electric aviation infrastructure and drone deliveries.

Mr. De Wild is business director and senior principal consultant on power cables for the independent energy expert and assurance provider, DNV.

He is an internationally recognized expert on underground and submarine power cable systems having over 25 years of experience.

Mr. De Wild‘s expertise covers all life phases of power cable systems ranging up to the highest voltage levels and transmission capacities.

His expertise includes HVAC and HVDC cable technology, interconnectors, cables to wind farms, dynamic rating systems, and overall risk management and quality control.

He has worked with numerous companies worldwide. Mr. De Wild has played a key role in various projects, including cable system verification projects, feasibility and design studies, expert witness activities, verification of manufacturing lines, and a joint industry project on cable lifetime monitoring.

Apart from his work in DNV, Mr. De Wild is also strongly involved in CIGRE B1 as a workgroup member and convenor of various activities. Mr. De Wild has an M.Sc. in Applied Physics from the University of Twente in The Netherlands.

Roland Dongping Zhang received his bachelor of art for German Philology at Tianjin Foreign Studies University in 1997 and the PhD for Cable Engineering at University Duisburg-Essen in 2009. Afterwards he joined the E.ON Offshore GmbH (former company of TenneT Offshore GmbH) and was responsible for the cable connections of offshore wind farms in the German North Sea.

Currently he works for the Asset Management of TenneT TSO GmbH and leads the engineers’ team that is responsible for engineering, quality assurance, testing etc. of offshore and DC cables in Germany.

Between 2016 and 2022 he had the chair of German National Panel of CIGRE B1 insulation cables and the membership of Study Committee of CIGRE B1 and the chair of International Scientific &Technical Committee Jicable’23. In 2024, he received the Technical Council Award of CIGRE

Now he is member of strategic advisory group of CIGRE SC B1 and since 2025 he has the position of adjunct professor at the Xi’an Jiaotong University in addition.

Niels Diepeveen is Project Director for LionLink, TenneT’s  first hybrid interconnector project, a groundbreaking cross-border energy initiative developed in cooperation with its UK project partner National Grid Ventures.

He joined TenneT in 2022 as a project developer within the 2GW Program, contributing to the acceleration of offshore wind energy integration.

With over 15 years of experience in offshore wind energy technology, Niels has held several project management positions in the sector, including roles at Delft Offshore Turbine BV and Ampelmann Operations.

He holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering and a PhD in wind turbine drive train design.

Sally is the Head of Policy and Regulation within the National Grid Ventures Interconnectors business.

She leads the regulatory strategy and policy interfaces for the NGV interconnector portfolio, working with regulators, policymakers and wider stakeholders to improve policies and arrangements for interconnection assets.

Most recently, Sally has led on development of the pilot regime for the UK’s two most advanced strategic offshore hybrid infrastructure projects.

After studying Economics at the London School of Economics, Sally began her career with RWE npower on their graduate scheme and subsequently held various commercial roles in the retail business.

Since joining National Grid in 2013, Sally has undertaken a number of regulatory and policy roles, gaining a deep expertise in electricity market arrangements and regulatory regimes.

Charlotte has over 20 years’ experience in the energy industry with expertise in the development and planning of electricity networks including economics and regulation, building on her strong technical background.

Charlotte provides key technical and strategic insights to electricity utilities, developers, government, investors and regulators on electricity transmission and distribution.

She has led technical advisory for multiple successful OFTO bidders, advised Ofgem on network planning and interconnector policy and regularly advises clients on feasibility for complex onshore and offshore grid connections and network developments including HVDC.

Charlotte also has a strong track record in innovation and is a key member of Cigre, holding the position of UK representative for Study Committee C1 System Development and Economics for 5 years.

Charlotte leads on the Electrical System Design across Vårgrønn’s project portfolio and works as the Electrical Package Manager in the Green Volt project.

Before joining Vårgrønn in June 2023, Charlotte worked 10 years in Equinor as lead of the electrical system infrastructure (ESI) in both power from shore to oil and gas platforms and in offshore wind projects. Charlotte holds an MSc in Sociotechnical Systems Engineering from Uppsala University, where she majored in electrical power systems.

Andy is Chief Operating Officer at NeuConnect, where he leads the preparations for the operational phase of the first 1,400MW interconnector between Great Britain and Germany.

Andy has over 15 years of experience in the electricity sector, with a particular focus on cross-border interconnectors and their operation.

He has held a range of technical, commercial, and regulatory roles across both merchant and regulated entities, working to adhere to both inter-EU and EU-UK policy frameworks.

His previous roles at Baltic Cable, ElecLink, and National Grid Ventures saw him contribute to a variety of expert and working groups focused on electricity market design in GB, regional, and European contexts.

Annika is Legal & Regulatory Director and member of the management team at the Interconnector TSO Baltic Cable AB, where she is responsible for the company’s legal and regulatory strategy, covering both the operation of the HVDC interconnector between Sweden and Germany and the expansion of the company’s asset portfolio.

She works closely with regulatory authorities, policymakers and the TSO community to support efficient cross-border electricity trading and alignment with European energy market frameworks.

Most recently, Annika has been involved in the company’s strategic expansion, including the acquisition of a minority stake in the Greenlink interconnector project.

Annika holds a law degree and has developed her career in the energy sector, with recent years focused on European regulatory matters and the legal dimensions of infrastructure development.

Prior to joining Baltic Cable, she held several roles in legal and regulatory affairs, gaining broad experience across the energy market landscape.

Paul is the Construction Director for the Greenlink Interconnector Project, a 500MW interconnector between Ireland and Wales which entered commercial operations earlier this year.

Paul has over 20 years’ experience in successfully building and maintaining submarine cable systems and HVDC interconnectors in Europe and the Middle East.

He previously held roles of Marine Project Manager and Project Director for the East West Interconnector project, another 500MW VSC interconnector between Ireland and Wales.

He worked for Saudi Aramco for 8 years where he played a key role in the huge expansion of their Arabian Gulf offshore fields and in establishing world leading asset management arrangements for their vast network of submarine cables.

These arrangements allowed Paul and team to achieve what is regarded as the record time for repair and re-energisation of a submarine power cable.

He is a graduate of the Siemens Energy UK graduate programme. Paul holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from UCD and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from TU Dublin.

Dr John Ging received the BE degree in 2002 and a PhD in 2008, both from University College Dublin, Ireland. He has previously worked as a lecturer in Electronic Engineering at UCD and as a design engineer at the Optoelectronic Research Centre prior to joining EirGrid Group in 2008.

John is currently the Head of Interconnection within the Operations department at EirGrid, responsible for cross border and asset management activities on the East West Interconnector between Ireland and Wales, as well as the power system and market readiness ahead of the Celtic interconnector with France.

His previous roles include the Head of Operations Development and Compliance as well as Head of Near Time Operations.

As such, John was responsible for EirGrid and SONI’s transmission and generator outage programmes, control centre and operational training, supporting the balancing market, grid and network codes along with associated software and system development.

Prior to this, he also worked at times in the National Control Centre as a Grid Control Engineer, on testing and validation of the new I-SEM all-island market systems, on grid planning, harmonic and voltage stability analysis as well as AC and DC power flow studies related to the connection of renewables and demand facilities. Dr Ging is a Chartered Manager and a Chartered Engineer.

He has 17 peer reviewed conference and journal papers as a primary author on a range of topics including electricity market development, power system resilience, virtual interconnectors using data centres, spatio-temporal wind constraint analysis, optimal meshing techniques for 3D photonic waveguides and bidirectional wave propagation algorithms.

He has also been a member of various ENTSO-E, IEC, CENELEC and Cigré working groups focusing on developing standards and compiling reports on power quality, smart grids, data exchanges, artificial intelligence, market development and the integration of renewables.

Aggie is the Geoscience Manager at Ternan Energy which she joined 3 years ago after having spent 20 years as an academic and researcher.

She is a Marine Geologist with expertise in sedimentology and offshore geohazards.

She gained her qualifications in Greece and the UK, with an undergrad in Geology from the University of Patras, and postgraduate studies, MSc and PhD, from the University of Southampton and the National Oceanography Centre.

She has served as senior lecturer at University College Dublin and principal lecturer at the University of Brighton and is currently the exte.

She is a Fulbright scholar alumna, having spent half a year at the US Geological Survey in Woods Hole, Massachusetts in 2018.

Aggie has published extensively on offshore geohazards and the marine record of glaciations offshore UK and Ireland.

Alex is a Chief Engineer, technical and business manager with a wealth of experience within the Electrical Power Supply Industry.

While at the ORE Catapult, he has developed a specialist centre for electrical power system technology R&D, testing and consultancy to facilitate the development of future electrical power systems.

He has specialised on HV submarine cable systems developing services such as full-scale representative testing, power systems analysis and failure investigations. His recent focus has been on development of improved qualification test requirements to derisk the deployment of new submarine cable technologies.

Alex is a Fellow of the IET and holds an MBA from Durham University

Lucy Bond is a climate scientist and engineer by background, with experience in Sustainable Engineering and Business development across utilities sectors.

She is a Senior Policy Manager in Ofgem’s Future Interconnection team, responsible for Future Interconnection Strategy.

Lucy previously worked in the Interconnector Delivery team within Ofgem, leading on the delivery of multiple regulatory processes.

Mr. Mohamed Hosny is currently the Technical Advisor for North Africa Energy sector at KfW Bank German development bank, where he supports significant energy projects financed by the bank, including the Italian-Tunisian interconnector ELMED and various other energy initiatives and programs.

With a strong educational background in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration, along with professional experience at industry leaders such as Siemens and Schneider Electric, Mr.

Andreas Hallengren holds a MSc in Electric Engineering. Based in Karlskrona, Sweden Andreas joined NKT 2017.

Initially focusing on tendering turnkey power cable Installation projects, and successfully contributing to several won project mainly in the Offshore Wind area.

In 2022 Andreas joined the NKT Service and Installation organization, supporting Customers to proactively reach a better preparedness through tailored service agreements and related services.

If cable systems are damaged for any reasons, NKT Service and Installation offering flexible turnkey repairs to reduce downtime and minimize monetary impact.

Sarah Pearce has over 10 years’ experience working in the submarine cable industry.

She is an Associate Director at Collaborative Environmental Advisors where she is working on major interconnector projects managing activities from marine environmental assessments to stakeholder engagement and post-consent construction support.

Her career began offshore, working on survey vessels where she gained hands-on experience in high-resolution seabed mapping, geophysical surveys, and offshore operations.

Sarah has also worked for a subsea engineering company, where she further developed her technical expertise in GIS, cable route engineering, burial assessments, and feasibility studies.

He has been leading the Monitoring Systems team at HIGHVOLT since 2021 and is actively involved in the associated CIRED and CIGRE working groups.

Henry is Head of Commercial at Enshore Subsea, a cable installation and trenching contractor based in Blyth.

Henry initially joined the industry as a mechanical engineer designing offshore and subsea equipment before moving into commercial and offshore contracting.

He is now responsible for all tendering and commercial activities at Enshore, as well as providing strategic guidance on company investments in vessels and trenchers.

Since joining Enshore in 2021, the company has grown from a headcount of less than 30 to now over 150 people with an order book of over £200m across three continents.

Rob van den Boogaard is Project lead Cable in Tennet and involved in 3 subsea cable projects within the 2 GW program.

Two of these (IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1) are in execution and one (Lion Link) is in the development and contracting phase.

His key focus is the cable contract setup, remuneration, installation works and supporting contracts like UXO investigation.

Jakob Pilegaard Hansen is Head of DK Large Cap, Origination at the Export & Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO), where he leads major financing initiatives for Danish companies expanding internationally.
