She plays a key role in shaping Maersk’s resilience capabilities, co-developing the Supply Chain Resilience Model and leading the development of Maersk Risk Management (MRM), a digital risk visibility tool that provides real-time monitoring and actionable insights. Mike, as the Head of Supply Chain Information Risk at international law firm Pinsent Masons, has demonstrated exceptional expertise in developing and implementing a robust methodology and process to manage supply chain information and cyber security risk.

His global responsibilities also extend to overseeing client-related information security assurance matters and obligations.

In this capacity, he communicates and demonstrates the firm’s comprehensive information security framework and controls to address the diverse needs of an extensive client base, many of whom operate within highly regulated environments.

Before joining Pinsent Masons, Mike made significant contributions during his tenure at Iron Mountain.

Initially tasked with expanding their ISO27001 certification scope within the UK, he subsequently assumed responsibility for regulatory compliance and customer-focused information security across Europe and Asia.

His multifaceted career also includes pivotal roles in employee background screening.

Notably, he worked with Kroll as a background screening service provider prior to playing a crucial role in embedding an internal employee vetting process at Iron Mountain.

Mike’s early career unfolded within the security landscape of the UK Home Office, where he held diverse roles ranging from prison administration to analytical positions at the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).

His eleven-year tenure there culminated in specialization in South Asian political, human rights and security matters for the UK immigration service.

CURRENT RESPONSIBILITIES

I am excited to work with our Marsh JLT Specialty Cyber team as we combine our expertise in risk management to tackle the growing cyber security threats and improve cyber resiliency for European companies. Most of my time involves sales activities, talking to clients about their cyber risk journey and how Marsh can assist them. Including setting up strategic partnerships.

I am also working on a European level in coordinating Marketing/PR and Business Development efforts with respect to our cyber offerings.

Furthermore, I am part of the Marsh Digital Leadership Program for Continental Europe. This team will be the main foundation of the future digital leaders in and across Continental Europe.

Basel Halak is an Associate Professor in secure electronics and the Director of the Cyber Security Academy, University of Southampton. Clare has 18 years’ experience working within Supply Chain for the Global Healthcare company Thermo Fisher Scientific with roles in Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, and playing a key role within the European Souring Group. She developed and led the Supply Chain Risk Management program for 3 years, and now holds the role of Sustainability Program lead within the Supplier Responsibility team. Clare’s current role includes management of Thermo Fisher’s Supplier Responsibility Ratings program, engaging suppliers in emissions reduction in support of Thermo Fisher’s Net Zero journey, and playing a key role in the implementation of additional due diligence efforts in response to heightened environmental and social regulation in supply chain.
